Jason L. Bernal – Presiding Member
Jason Bernal of New Braunfels is an Air Force Veteran and currently the Business Development Manager at Resolute Baptist Hospital. He is a healthcare representative for the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society. Mr. Bernal received a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Colorado State University and a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Incarnate Word. In addition to his progressing healthcare career, he is once again serving as a Navy Reserve Medical Service Corp Officer at Brooke Army Medical Center facilitating joint enroute critical care mission initiatives. Overall, he is passionate about healthcare and strives to pioneer new strategies to improve healthcare for all.
Katie Andrade, LMSW – Vice Chair

Katie Andrade, of Mt. Pleasant, is a Licensed Master Social Worker and Mental Health Clinician who primarily serves a rural community. She is experienced in working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to assess client needs and provide comprehensive, client-centered care.
In her current role, Andrade provides mental health services. She also conducts home health visits, where she evaluates patient needs within the home environment, offers support, and connects individuals and families to appropriate community resources. Her professional experience includes supporting individuals affected by substance use, domestic and sexual violence, trauma, and prenatal loss. She has also worked in community-based settings, including her time with Communities in Schools, where she identified needs and provided supportive services to children and families in both school and community environments. Additionally, she has experience with Mobile Integrated Health, delivering preventative care within patients’ homes. Andrade is actively involved in community outreach through her work with the KJ Dream Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports students and parents by providing school supplies and other essential resources. She holds a translator certification and is an active member of the National Association of Social Workers and the National Society of Leadership and Success. She is also involved with the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) through the Regulatory Education and Leadership Committee. Andrade earned both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Social Work from Texas A&M University–Commerce and is a former member of the university’s Honor Society.
Korina Delapeña

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Korina Delapeña to the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners for a term set to expire on February 1, 2027. Delapeña is a philanthropic leader and former communications professional who has focused her public service in the non-profit arena addressing child drowning prevention in Texas. Most recently, Delapeña was elected as President of Safe Kids Austin, an organization that provides dedicated and caring staff, operational support and other resources to assist in achieving a common goal of keeping children safe. Delapeña currently serves as the Executive Director of the non-profit organization, Live Like Cati, a child drowning prevention organization that provides free life jackets to the public together with water safety education and advocacy. Delapeña has also served and is an active board member of The Arc of the Capital Area, a non-profit organization that is committed to empowering central Texans with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families through compassionate case management and innovative programs. Delapeña is a proud native Texan, wife to an Air Force Veteran, and mother. She has made her life mission in helping the most vulnerable, children and families who have suffered trauma and tragedy. She believes it is important to support social workers because they are trained professionals that are devoted to helping vulnerable people and guide communities through challenges they face in everyday life. She understands firsthand the importance of being united in their commitment to advocating for and improving the lives of individuals, families, groups, and societies. Delapeña brings bilingual stakeholder engagement and consensus building skills to her new position and looks forward to helping solve the challenges put before the Board.
David T. Marsden, LCSW-S
David T. Marsden, LCSW-S, based in Weatherford, Texas, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Cook Children’s Medical Center, where he plays a key role in facilitating transitional care for adolescents moving from pediatric to adult healthcare systems. His responsibilities also include coordinating care for expectant mothers in West Texas and delivering behavioral health support to patients in the outpatient Heart Center. David brings over 30 years of professional experience in social work, with a career that began in community mental health and progressed through behavioral health insurance—encompassing disease management—and most recently, medical social work at John Peter Smith Hospital and Cook Children’s Medical Center. At JPS, he served as Project Manager for a multi-million dollar Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment (DSRIP) initiative, implementing Six Sigma methodologies to improve system efficiency and outcomes. He has continued to apply Six Sigma principles in an organizational capacity at Cook Children’s. David is a Board Certified Diplomate (BCD) in Clinical Social Work, a Certified Case Manager (CCM), and is an active member of NASW Texas. Mr. Marsden holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Howard Payne University (1991) and a Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) from the University of Texas at Arlington (1994).
Quida J. Pryor

Quida J. Pryor of Sugar Land is a retired educator, corporate business analyst, financial consultant, and project manager. Pryor has over 30 years of professional experience in teaching math at the elementary level, executing payroll systems, testing new financial software, and recommending cost-effective financial process improvements at the corporate level. She is an active volunteer with Meals on Wheels and with organizations that aid people with disabilities. She is a certified payroll professional and a past officer in the American Payroll Association. She received the Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow recognition in 2023. Pryor received a Bachelor of Arts in General Studies and Accounting from United States International University and a Bachelor of Science in Digital Media from the University of Houston.
Jennifer Swords, LBSW

Jennifer Swords of Fort Worth is a Licensed Baccalaureate Social Worker with Communities in Schools of Greater Tarrant County. She works within the school environment to identify and eradicate barriers that prevent students from having a successful education. Swords was awarded CIS Elementary School Social Worker of the Year for the 2020-2021 school year, CIS Program Manager of the Year (2018-2019), and was selected to attend the 2020 CIS National Student Supports Institute Conference in Las Vegas. Swords received a Bachelor of Social Work from Stephen F. Austin State University. In addition to school social work, she has gained valuable experience working with at-risk children and adolescents through AmeriCorps, nonprofit organizations, and in a residential treatment facility. Swords is dedicated to supporting and empowering individuals, families, and communities in need.
Lea Ann Tatum, LBSW
Lea Ann Tatum, of Palestine, Texas, obtained her Bachelor of Social Work degree from Texas A&M-Commerce where she graduated Cum Laude in Dec. 2006. She is employed as a Corporate Director for Live Oak Healthcare, a privately owned company of long-term care facilities, where she oversees Sales & Marketing and provides support and training to social workers and activity directors for all facilities within the company. Lea Ann has a passion for advocating for others, with a strong interest in the geriatric population, and has worked in long-term care and hospice most of her career. She is from the small Northeast Texas town of Roxton where she was active in many community organizations throughout the years. She volunteered to help build sense of community and ensure those in need had access to resources sometimes difficult to obtain in rural communities. Lea Ann strives to empower others and works to advocate for not only her clients, but also the positive contributions made by Social Workers and the importance of the profession.
Marco A. Trevino, LCSW-S
Marco A. Trevino is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 22 years of experience providing social work and behavioral health services in the Rio Grande Valley. As an LCSW at Alivio Counseling Services, he specializes in the treatment of complex trauma, mood disorders, substance use, and personality disorders with a strong focus on evidence-based and culturally responsive care. Mr. Trevino has advanced training in Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Depression (IPT-D), Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). His professional practice reflects a commitment to clinical excellence, ethical standards, and community well-being. In addition to his clinical practice, Mr. Trevino has an extensive record of public service and leadership. He was commissioned by Governor Greg Abbott to the Task Force on Disaster Issues Affecting Persons Who Are Elderly and Persons with Disabilities in October 2020. Previously, he was appointed to the Texas Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities by Governor Rick Perry in 2014, and reappointed by Governor Abbott in 2016 and 2018, serving through 2020, including as Co-Chair of the Committee. Mr. Trevino serves as a Board Member of the Community Council of the Rio Grande Valley, 211 Texas, since 2014, and was elected Board President in 2017. He has been a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) since 2005 and currently serves as the Nomination and Leadership Identification representative for the Lower Rio Grande Valley. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Social Worker in 2003 from the University of Texas Pan American and his Master Degree of Science in Social Work in 2006. In addition, he is a Board Approved Social Work Supervisor.
