The mission of the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (“Board”) is to protect the public by ensuring that psychological services are provided to the people of Texas by qualified and competent practitioners who adhere to established professional standards.
It is with this mission in mind that the Board set out to develop these guidelines for using social media and electronic communications. When developing these guidelines, the Board relied in-part upon stakeholder input and the prior work of ASPPB’s Social Media Taskforce.
TSBEP licensees who choose to use social media in their practice should take precautions to be mindful and remain in compliant with all relevant ethical, professional, and legal responsibilities, in addition to policies and guidelines in Texas.
Written comments on the proposed social media and electronic communication guidelines may be submitted to Brenda Skiff, Executive Assistant, Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council, 333 Guadalupe, Ste. 3-900, Austin, Texas 78701 or via email to general@bhec.texas.gov by March 30, 2021.
